Lopez Canyon Hazardous Fuels Reduction

The Lopez Canyon Hazardous Fuels Reduction project (Project) consists of brush clearance of approximately 40 acres of open space at Lopez Canyon Landfill to reduce the risk of wildfire and comply with applicable brush clearance requirements of the local fire departments. The hazardous fuel removal activities will include brush clearing, weed whacking, and tree raising (trimming) to allow a minimum of 200 feet clearance from structures on private property or a minimum of ten feet from roadways or combustible fences on private property. Project beneficiaries include employees of and residents surrounding the Lopez Canyon Landfill that will benefit from the creation of a defensible space and the reduced risk of wildfires that can endanger lives, infrastructure, property, and land. The Project has been evaluated and determined to be exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The table below includes a link to the Notice of Exemption.
