Elysian Valley Shared Path

The Elysian Valley Shared Path Improvement (EVSP) Project aims to enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety along the Los Angeles River shared path between Dallas Street and Barclay Street. Key improvements include designated landing areas at street ends, upgraded signage, striping, and creative safety measures like colored asphalt. The project will improve several street entrances, including Dallas Street and Riverdale Avenue, and provide ADA-compliant upgrades such as ramps, warning strips, and handrails.

The project addresses safety concerns raised by residents after a pedestrian-bicyclist accident in 2016. It aims to increase accessibility, enhance public access, and foster economic growth by attracting visitors and supporting local businesses. The improvements will also align with the Los Angeles River Master Plan, incorporating native landscaping and ensuring sustainable development.

The EVSP project is designed to meet all applicable regulations and will be constructed with careful attention to minimizing noise impacts to local wildlife, such as the Least Bell’s vireo. This initiative responds to community concerns and will improve safety, connectivity, and recreational opportunities for Elysian Valley residents.
