Sixth Street PARC (Park, Arts, River & Connectivity) Project

Sixth Street PARC (Park, Arts, River and Connectivity) Project

In Fall of 2023, the Bureau of Engineering (Engineering) began construction of the $60 million Sixth Street PARC (Park, Arts, River & Connectivity) Project. The project will create 12 acres of open and recreational space in areas underneath and adjacent to the new Sixth Street Viaduct, which connects historic Boyle Heights with the Arts District neighborhood and crosses the Los Angeles River.

The project will include the Leonard Hill Arts Plaza performing space, made possible by a $1 million donation by the Leonard Hill Foundation. The park will also include public restrooms on each side of the Los Angeles River, public gathering areas, flexible play areas and lawns, adult fitness equipment, dog play areas, landscaping and trees, public art, sports fields and courts, children's play areas and mister pad, picnic and grilling areas, parking spaces, skate park elements, bicycle and pedestrian paths, roadway connectivity improvements, and stormwater infrastructure improvements.

The park is funded primarily by the Parks and Water Bond Act of 2018.

Construction will begin be completed in early 2026.
